ABOUT
JEANETTE SCOTT |
|
Sydney artist Jeanette Scott spent most of her young life in rural New South Wales in the Monara highlands, then the Central Western highlands.
She combined raising a family of five children, art courses, farming, community activities and the completion of an Arts Degree by external study.
After moving to Sydney in 1986 Jeanette undertook formal art training, graduating from the National Art School, East Sydney in 1999.
Scott is passionate about the nexus between the physical environment and development of personality. This theme is further explored through still life and interiors where she examines the individual's sense of place and responses to nature, culminating in the creation of unique personal spaces.
Her work reflects her rural influences and the spiritual qualities of landscape. Strong in her memory are the granite outcrops, gorges, rugged bush of the highlands to the tall straight timbers and seascapes of the South Coast and areas showing human occupation like sites of early setters' cottages now in ruin or the magical "dells" of clearings in deep scrub.
Using a variety of media, including oils, pastels and acrylics, Jeanette portrays her subject matter with a delightful delicacy and atmosphere.
Landscape and Still Life paintings can be viewed at the Lennox Street Studios, Newtown Sydney where Jeanette has her studio. |
